We always encourage our readers to spend time planning their Disney World vacation ahead of time, but we also don’t recommend having a minute-by-minute plan for your trip, either, as things are going to happen that you don’t expect! We want you to know your priorities and a general idea of what you want to accomplish, but you also want to leave time for the unexpected.
You could spot a rare character that you have been dying to meet, or you could spot a tasty snack that you want to try. Or the attraction you were planning to ride next is temporarily closed. We are always updating you on planned closures at Disney World, but you can’t always prepare for the unexpected closures.
Attractions can have technical difficulties, causing them to close down temporarily, or, for certain attractions, they will need to close down when lightning is too close. It is never fun when your next ride is temporarily closed, but knowing that rides do go down is important. Yesterday, June 11th, 21 (!!!) attractions temporarily closed throughout the day. While some outdoor attractions closed temporarily due to lightning in the area yesterday, like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and others, there was a long list of closures that were likely due to technical difficulties.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind closed sometime between 10 AM and 11 AM and didn’t reopen for the rest of the day. Other attractions like Living with the Land, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Carousel of Progress, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway were closed for a shorter time. It can be frustrating when there are lots of closures; however, don’t let closures get you down! There is still so much to explore in the parks, just be open to pivoting your plan for something else.
